Parent & Student Workshop:
How to Have Respectful Conversations
When We Disagree

September 29th from 4:00-6:00 pm in the KAPS Cafe

Snacks will be provided!

This High School Workshop gives students an opportunity to learn and practice effective listening and speaking skills when facing controversial issues in their lives—with teachers, principals, peers and relatives. Through thoughtful advance planning with school staff, the workshop employs real-world scenarios for student participants to engage in, to observe their peers, and to offer constructive feedback.

Participants learn how to express their opinions, to show curiosity about opposing views, and to respectfully defuse volatile conversations. Where possible, they attempt to find common ground and solutions. By the end of the 2.5-hour in-person event, students walk away having held their heads high while also enlarging their understanding of other perspectives on the issue.
