Maintenance and Operations
Job Title: Maintenance and Operations

Your Mission:
Reporting to the Superintendent, the Maintenance and Operations position is a school-based support role that provides managerial and technical support in guiding and directing a variety of facility functions for campus to include custodial, developing, planning, and coordinating facility maintenance assists. This includes duties assigned by the Superintendent. The Maintenance and Operations role serves as a key member of the school’s Operational Team while ensuring that the school’s facility related operations meet high standards of operational excellence and enables instructional leaders and staff to focus on driving strong student achievement outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Provide managerial and technical support in guiding and directing a variety of facility functions for assigned buildings and satellite operations, including developing, planning, and coordinating facility maintenance.
- Manage facilities operations.
- Develop, plan and coordinate all facility maintenance work.
- Oversee inspection of work and establishe quality and quantity standards to ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulation and departmental policies.
- Assist supervisors with emergency situations and provide technical expertise to solve problems.
- Manage and evaluate daily facilities operations including repairs, scheduled maintenance and warranty, and ensures accountability for those projects.
- Act as liaison for the campus including Environmental Health and Safety, Landscape Services, Project Management and Construction Services (PMCS), Recycling and Disposal, Parking and Traffic, and Zone Maintenance.
- Coordinate facilities-related service and repair requests from the faculty and staff.
- Ensure coverage outside of work hours for leaks, utility outages and other unexpected occurrences.
- Ensure that safeguards are in place to maintain critical facility equipment, including equipment in multiple kitchens.
- Assist with operations of emergency stations as needed/required.
- Assist with the Operation team on construction and renovation projects.
- Analyze and provide recommendations, in collaboration with Superintendent or Superintendent Designee, regarding building needs and space utilization and faculty/staff placement.
- Assist with the logistics and facility use of various events as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- CDL preferred
- Valid Texas Drivers License
Special Knowledge and Skills:
- Local, state, and national building and fire codes where applicable
- Good knowledge of computerized Inventory Control and Purchasing Procedures
- Ability to carry out maintenance responsibilities within established policies, plans, and requirements, and to coordinate work with other divisions and departments
- Ability to supervise, instruct, and train maintenance crafts personnel in all phases of the work, and to assist them with work problems
- Ability to enforce safety and other regulations where applicable
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, diagrams, and sketches Thorough knowledge of methods and practices of the maintenance trades and of the properties, characteristics and uses of related equipment, materials, and tools

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Frequent walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, pulling, pushing; heavy lifting and carrying; repetitive hand motions; work in tiring and uncomfortable positions; outside and inside; on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, ladders, and scaffolding; and around machinery with moving parts; field/site maintenance tasks often require strength and dexterity to perform all required maintenance tasks, including lifting and carrying heavy objects, balancing self, materials and tools on high and/or slanted surfaces, assembling and disassembling scaffolds and equipment, and operating or utilizing all tools, equipment and vehicles; move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment; exposure to hot and cold temperatures, excessive noise, fumes, and toxic chemicals; frequent district-wide travel; state travel may or may not be required; prolonged use of computer terminal possible; frequent prolonged and irregular hours; possible biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases; specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus; frequent light lifting and carrying (under 15 pounds); occasional moderate lifting and carrying (15-44 pounds).
Hazards/Unusual Demands:
Work in a wide range of climatic conditions; work may involve exposure to low, medium, or high voltage electrical currents, fumes, dust, sparks, smoke, loud noise and vibrations; require use of safety goggles, ear plugs, masks, safety shoes, back braces, hard hats, gloves, and require compliance with safety procedures endemic to the trade; work may involve climbing onto roofs, ladders, scaffolds, and into other high places; incumbents may be required to work unusual hours and to be in an on-call status in emergencies.

JOB GOAL:
The Receptionist is responsible for the professional and efficient management of visitors and telephone calls. He/she is also responsible for a variety of clerical duties that support the operation and
presentation of a professional office. The Receptionist position furthers the mission of KAPS because, in most cases, this person serves as the first impression that a visitor receives of KAPS.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Some College (Preferred)
2-3 years office experience, preferably in a school setting.

Performance Responsibilities:

Bus Driver
(CDL and Non-CDL)
We are seeking an experienced and qualified individual for a position as a School Bus Driver. In this position, you pick up and drop off children along predetermined routes and maintain a safe and friendly atmosphere for all riders in your care. Our ideal candidate has prior experience driving a school bus or other passenger service buses and the patience and calm demeanor required when transporting a bus full of students.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Pick up and drop off students along predetermined routes
- Practice safe driving skills in potentially inclement weather
- Perform basic vehicle maintenance
- Monitor student behavior and report unsafe or abusive behavior to school administrators
- Provide additional assistance to special needs students who may have difficulty boarding or riding the bus

- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred
- Prior experience as a school bus driver or driving other passenger buses
