Press Release: KAPS Poster Campaign – “Where Everyone Is Welcomed”
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Katherine Anne Porter School Launches “Where Everyone Is Welcomed” Poster Campaign to Champion Inclusion and Community Pride
WIMBERLEY, TX — Katherine Anne Porter School (KAPS), an innovative public charter high school serving the Texas Hill Country, is inviting the entire community to join its “Where Everyone Is Welcomed” Poster Campaign on Friday, May 16th, from 1:00–4:00 PM at The Commons at KAPS.
Inspired by a national conversation on the importance of inclusive messaging in schools, KAPS is transforming this moment into a vibrant, community-driven initiative. The campaign empowers students, families, and local residents to create and display posters that celebrate the school’s core values: belonging, acceptance, and creativity. These posters will be showcased throughout the campus and in local public spaces, reinforcing KAPS’s commitment to welcoming every student and family.
Superintendent Mariah Ingram shared, “At KAPS, inclusion isn’t just a message-it’s our mission. This campaign is a chance for our entire community to stand together and show that every student, every family, and every neighbor belongs here. When we make our values visible, we make our school-and our community-stronger.”
Board President Paul Michels emphasized the broader impact, stating, “Our school was founded on the belief that creativity and compassion can shape a brighter future. By inviting the community to participate in this campaign, we’re building bridges and inspiring others to join us in creating a place where everyone is respected and valued.”
Student Celeste Smith expressed her excitement for the event, “It means a lot to know that my voice-and every student’s voice-matters at KAPS. Making these posters together shows that we’re not just talking about inclusion, we’re living it. I hope people from all over Wimberley come see what makes our school so special.”
Teacher Kristina Fleming added, “As an educator, I see firsthand how messages of welcome and acceptance transform our classrooms. When students know they are safe and valued, they open up, learn more deeply, and support one another. This campaign is a powerful way to show our students-and our community-that KAPS is committed to their well-being, inside and outside the classroom.”
The event is open to all. Materials will be provided, and participants are encouraged to bring their ideas and enthusiasm. In addition to posters, KAPS will soon offer yard signs for families and supporters to display at home, further amplifying the message of welcome throughout the region.
KAPS is a closed campus. If the gate is closed when you arrive, please call our front office at 512-648-3180 (as listed on the sign at the entrance) to open the gate.
Join us on May 16th to help make KAPS — and our community — a place where everyone is truly welcomed.
