I’ve been a member of KAPS since February 2016 and I’m so happy to be here! It’s an honor to be a part of these student’s lives. I received my bachelors degree in English with a minor in Psychology from Texas State back when it was Southwest Texas State and lived in the Austin area until I moved with my family to Wimberley in 2002 to raise children and chickens. Since moving to this area I’ve enjoyed being a Scoutmaster, entrepreneur and the Program Director for Arts from the Heart, as well as many other volunteer pursuits and being in the occasional play. I know it sounds corny, but my favorite role has been and continues to be, “Mom”.
Accounting & Human Resources
I was influenced fairly early in life by a quote on my coffee cup - - "A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove... but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child." I have been blessed to be able to raise two wonderful children and to continue to work around students in the KAPS business office.

Instructional Assistant at Student Support Services
Home for me is Dallas, Texas! I went to school at Texas Woman's University where I completed my Bachelor's degree in Health Studies. My initial interests were to work in the health field, but my career plans shifted after I began working with adults who had special needs. Shortly thereafter, I started working in the education field where I found a new passion and purpose in special education. I am now going to school at Texas State University and working towards my Master's degree in Special Education with a concentration in Autism. Although my line of work is not always easy, I feel very blessed everyday to witness the growth of all students that I can help serve!
I graduated from Texas State University in 05 then again in 15 with M.S. in Applied Sociology. I am married to my College sweetheart, Lanette, and have a dog named Riley Bo! We enjoy San Marcos walks and weekends in South Texas. KAPS student are the bloodline that keep me coming day in and out. I am dedicated to helping students achieve success by meeting them where they're at.
Stella McPherson was born and raised in Wimberley and has worked at KAPS for 10 years. Previously she worked in the cafe and drove the buses and now she is the Transportation Manager and helps oversee custodial operations and facility maintenance.
Food Services Manager
I’m Katina the new Child Nutrition Director. While Laural left some big shoes to fill, I have no doubt with the proper guidance and training, I will be able (and willing) to take the dragon cafe in new and exciting directions.
Before joining the KAPS community I worked as deli manager for a local grocery store. After a major health scare I decided I no longer wanted to work 70+ hours for a company that didn't truly appreciate my commitment.
The love of my life and I relocated to Canyon lake, Texas 3 years ago where we plan on spending the rest of our days. I was born and raised in a small farming community in Ohio and lived there until packing everything we owned into a mini van and moving to Texas.
Once again I am excited for the opportunity to learn and be a part of such an original and amazing community.
